The Lottie Shaws story began over a hundred years ago, right in the heart of Yorkshire. Beginning with Lottie’s Great Aunts; Mary and Edith Harrison, setting out to bake and sell their original recipes of Yorkshire specialities. Little did they know the impact they would have, with their traditional recipes being passed down over three generations. These recipes have become famous for their high quality, with the Yorkshire Parkin being the award-winning signature of the company. Lottie Shaw’s partners with many local artisan producers; the eggs are free-range, flour is locally milled and the oatmeal is produced by one of the oldest family firms in England.

An inspirational story of a family who have made a new life for themselves in Yorkshire following the war in Syria in 2012, Razan decided to bring the best of Yorkshire dairy and her love of her favourite Syrian ‘squeaky cheese’ to create Yorkshire Dama Cheese, an award winning (and expanding) range of delicious halloumi cheese.
You might not be able to connect a pharmacy degree to fine cheese making, but Razan sure did. Starting up in 2014, the company won the World Cheese Award the bronze prize just four months after their cheese production began. With another six years of cheese making experience under their belts, just imagine how good the cheeses from this family business taste now.

Dating back to the 11th century, the Swaledale Cheese Company have certainly got some history behind them. The original recipe using ewe’s milk is said to have been passed down from ancient monks to the farmers of Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales. Since then, the recipes have evolved to include cow and goat milk, but today’s artisan cheese making process has been unchanged since 1987, when Swaledale cheese production began.
